2016 Isuzu MUX will make to India and fight established rivals in the category. The Isuzu is a badge engineered TrailBlazer on the inside.
Isuzu is known for two major things worldwide. Their relationship with General Motor as they provide diesel engines to the American manufacturer. The second thing they are known for are pick up trucks. All of this made them quite a success in the commercial vehicle segment. Isuzu always had a knack for passenger vehicle segment as well and that is where it launched the MU-7. The vehicle had the same core benefits that it has today. Strong diesel engine, lots of space and a captivating aura. MU-X on the other hand is based on the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, a vehicle which is worldwide famous for offering large SUV thrills at an affordable price. MU-X is know slatted for launch in India and will take on established rivals. On paper it is as solid as it competitors and it offers quite a lot. Let’s find out!
2016 Isuzu MUX India Engine, Gearbox and Mileage
The engine is going to be the 3.0 litre option and 2.5 litre in conjunction. Both engines will be mated to an 5-speed automatic gearbox. 3.0 litre engine produces 163 PS and 380 Nm of torque from its engine. 2.5 litre engine produces 136 PS and 280 Nm of torque. Mileage figures are unknown but they should be in vicinity of 10-12 km/l. Isuzu is known for making robust diesel engines and the reason why the brand is good in the commercial vehicle department.

The TrailBlazer is one mean machine and the Isuzu MU-X is based on the same vehicle. You get the large D-pillar made of glass which extends to the other side and is part of the rear windshield as well. Front is very Japanese indeed with quirky headlights, busy looking grille, large and raised bumper with chunky and square fog lamps. There will be a lot of color options to choose from. Overall, the large captivating size and dimensions along with same ground clearance will make sure it grabs the same large amount of attention.

2016 Isuzu MUX India Chassis, suspension and off-road
The SUV will have the same ladder on frame chassis construction that we have seen in donor car. The suspension will be independent on all four corners. 4×4 could be offered this time with the 3.0l engine. A 2.5l engine will come 4×2 option. Ventilated Disc brakes at the front and solid disc brakes at the rear providing stopping power.

Isuzu MUX India Interiors and Features
Expect the similar interiors that can be found in the TrailBlazer. Automatic climate control, reverse parking sensors and camera, steering wheel mounted controls, connectivity options, Android and Apple Car Play should make it as well. Isuzu could price it higher only if can deliver more features which the donor car lacks in India. Given Isuzu’s past vehicles stratgey, it will try to undercut rivals and then we can expect similar feature list as the Chevrolet TrailBlazer. With the donor car we saw good space in the front, rear and is a proper 7-seater. Boot space is good as well.
2016 Isuzu MUX India Launch and Price
Launched is expected around Diwali 2016 and prices should stay the same around the same Rs. 30 lakh mark on-road for this machine and ex-showroom price around Rs. 24 lakh.
2016 Isuzu MUX Safety Features
The 7-seater SUV, sadly will come dual airbags only. No side/curtain airbags would make it here as well. However, you get the full passive safety features such as ABS, EBD, Traction Control, ESC, Hill Start Assist and Brake assist will make it to the car.
