2016 Mahindra TUV 300 mHawk100 is the same engine seen on the NuvoSport which comes with 100 PS of power and has heavy mechanical changes
Mahindra seems to be on a roll when it comes to attacking its competition one after the other with their product. The brand is all set to take its SUV portfolio to the highest level possible when it comes to offering value to its customers. The ladder on frame chassis equipped compact SUV seem to be bringing in surprisingly large numbers of volumes for the brand. The TUV 300 is one of the two SUV, which are getting the numbers. The TUV 300 was lower offering when compared to the recently launched NuvoSport. However, Mahindra now wants them to distinguish on features and styling as everything else is now same.
Mahindra TUV 300 mHawk100 Engine Gearbox and Mileage
Mahindra TUV 300 mHawk100 is the new engine that has 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. Up from 80 PS and 230 Nm of torque. The engine was first seen on the Quanto, which was heavily re-engineered and then detuned to 80 PS from 100 PS of the Quanto engine. With critics and public not able to gulp down the fact why the engine went down in terms of power.
Mahindra says, they heard this and now have corrected this with the new engine seen on the NuvoSport and now the Mahindra TUV 300 mHawk100 top two variants, which are the T8 and T8 AMT. The 80 PS engine will continue in first three trims. Engine now comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT gearbox as well.
The new engine has revised pistons, crankshaft, turbocharger, head, manifolds, gaskets and much more which means pretty much everything has been optimized over the already impressive Quanto engine. Efficiency has been rated at a respectable 18.0 km/l. Given the real life test results that can be seen in the reviews, it does deliver quite close to claimed numbers as well. Despite that the vehicle is over 1.5 tonnes in weight.
TUV 300 mHawk100 Design and colors
The TUV 300 continues to be inspired by a battle tank as the masses are centered in between and the front and rear are minimalist. The side profile has a swooping window profile and front is butch with the JEEP inspired grille. Sub four meter SUV has enough height and width that overshadows its monocoque rivals easily. All of which gives it imposing stance and wins some customers hearts and minds easily.
2016 TUV 300 mHawk100 Interiors and Features
Interior wise, the TUV 300 is the real deal from the company in a long time. The car has a high quality dashboard and plastics all around. There is a new design to the dashboard which makes it look and feels premium. The SUV has an infotainment screen, which has all the connectivity options. The SUV has a MID which shows the distance to empty in the speedometer. There is a lot of space in the cabin, especially in the second row of seats. Third row is best for short trips or can be used as a large cargo area.
Mahindra TUV 300 mHawk100 India Launch and Price
Mahindra has launched the TUV 300 mHawk100 in the Month of may, the deliveries have begun and vehicles are ready with immediate effect. Priced at 8.87 lakhs, it does deliver more value to the customer who prefers top-end variants, which are usually urban and tier II city buyers.
