Ford has begun testing the 2018 crossover version of Figo in India which will be manufactured at the brand’s Sanand facility in Gujarat some time back in 2017. As we know from the previous reveal, this is the FreeStyle that is set to launch soon. The new model seems to have gone under a lot of changes. It can be seen that the 2018 Ford Figo FreeStyle gets updates on the exterior and interior.
According to spy shots, the new 2018 Ford Figo FreeStyle version gets revised headlamps, refreshed bumper at the front and at the rear and twin spoke black alloy wheels. The front bumper now gets new lower air intakes. The car now is seen with plastic cladding over the wheel arches, which gives it complete crossover-like looks and styling.

On the inside, the dashboard design is tweaked to accommodate the much-needed touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Ford is also developing a low-cost platform for its future premium hatchbacks and sedans. The crossover Figo will get the all-new 1.2 litre, three-cylinder petrol mill from the ‘Dragon’ series of engines. The new engines are to be manufactured by Ford in India to keep the costs low. The diesel will continue to be the same which is the 1.5 diesel which makes 100 PS of power. The petrol automatic will be introduced which will be an AMT. Even the manual gearbox, which was criticized is being changed.
The engine boasts of latest technologies such as an integrated exhaust manifold, a rocker shaft with hydrodynamic bearings, a variable oil pump, a dual-valve independent valve control, individual ignition coils for each cylinder, spark plugs centralized in the combustion chamber and hydraulic tappets with rotor arms. All these new components will help the all-aluminum engine to get lighter by 10% than the current four-cylinder Sigma motor. 2018 Ford Figo FreeStyle will rival the Fiat Avventura, Etios Cross, Polo Cross, Active i20 and Honda WRV.
