South Korean carmaker Hyundai has introduced a 1.4-litre diesel engine option in its popular Verna mid-size sedan offering. The new Verna 1.4-liter diesel is available in two trim levels – E and EX priced at Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh respectively (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). This new addition will serve as an entry-level diesel option in Verna’s model line-up for the Indian market.

Just so you know, this is the same 1.4-litre diesel engine that is currently doing the duty under the hood of many other Hyundai models such as Elite i20 hatchback, i20 Active Crossover, and Creta SUV. The oil burner is good for producing 89bhp and 220Nm of max power and max torque respectively and comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Besides the new 1.4-litre Diesel, Hyundai has also added two new variants in Verna’s 1.6-litre engine range 1.6L petrol SX+ and 1.6L diesel SX(O). The 1.6-litre petrol is now available in SX+ trim which is positioned between EX and SX(O) variants.
