VW has recently introduced GT trim level for its Polo Hatchback and Vento Sedan in the Indian market. And now, according to the latest reports the company is going to do the same for its compact sedan – the Ameo too. In fact, the official web page of the VW is already showing Ameo GT line diesel version priced at Rs 9.99 lakh.
The channel partners of Volkswagen India have also confirmed that the Ameo GT line will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. While the petrol version will be powered by a 1.0-liter, 76 bhp engine mated to a manual transmission, diesel version on the other hand will use a 1.5-liter, 110 bhp motor channelizing the power to front wheels via an automatic transmission. The cosmetic changes on new Ameo GT trim line will include a new sparkling sunset red paint, chrome door handles, black roof, GT badge on front Fender, boots spoiler, and GT decals on doors.
In terms of features and equipment, Ameo GT line will have the same features as available in the top-line Highline Plus variant of the car which makes it decently equipped on both safety and convenience parameters. In terms of price, VW has decided to put the same price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh for Ameo Highline plus diesel and Ameo GT line diesel variants.
Applying the same logic, we expect Ameo GT petrol to come at a similar price of Rs 7.99 lakh that Ameo Highline Plus petrol costs to customers.
It will be interesting to witness how the prospective buyers respond to the launch of the new GT variant in the Ameo range. In the Indian market, VW Ameo is pitted against the likes of Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Tata Tigor, and Honda Amaze among others.
