Mercedes-Benz has reintroduced the E-Class with the top-of-the-line E 350d variant in India. The new Mercedes-Benz E 350d is priced at Rs. 75.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and is offered only in the Elite trim. The E 350d brings back the V6 diesel motor on the E-Class in the new BS6 avatar. This is the same engine offered on the S-Class as well, and was actually the first engine to be BS6 compliant in the automaker’s stable back in 2018. Compared to the other variants, the 2020 BS6 Mercedes-Benz E350d also comes with visual upgrades for a plush look.
Power on the new Mercedes-Benz E 350d comes from the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that also powers the S 350d, G 350d and the GLE 400d. On the E 350d, the motor develops 286PS and 600Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with the 9G-Tronic transmission. The sedan can sprint from 0-100 kmph.in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed restricted to 250 kmph. The E 350d also comes with the air suspension that offers a plush ride quality and is specific to this variant.
In terms of visual upgrades, the 2020 BS6 Mercedes-Benz E350d rides on larger 18-inch wheels, while the cabin gets upgraded with open-pore ashwood trim. The car also gets wireless charging for smartphones at the front and rear, electrically adjustable seats for the front with memory function, 360-degree camera and more. The 2020 BS6 Mercedes-Benz E350d also gets adapter-based connected car tech instead of Mercedes Me eSIM-based system.
2020 BS6 Mercedes-Benz E350d continues to lock its horns against a number of rivals including the BMW 530d and the Jaguar XF. The Audi A6 and the Volvo S90 also remain formidable rivals but are offered only with a petrol engine in the BS6 era.
