2020 Nissan Sunny sedan looks good than before and will continue offer practicality and ultra reliable engine and platform
It’s been quite a while since Nissan last updated its Sunny sedan. The car is pitted against the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Toyota Yaris but apparently, without the conscious support of the manufacturer, it is not in the game anymore. The situation probably might change if Nissan decides to bring new Sunny, which has just been unveiled in the US market by the name of Versa, to India.
2020 Sunny revealed by Nissan in Florida, USA and it has grown up in size and is now more handsomely equipped than outgoing model. Exteriors have adorned more sporty and chiseled look, with frontage featuring a new V-theme grille and shapely LED headlamps with DRLs. The silhouette has got a fastback-style roof which sharply drooped towards the rear and featured blacked out section just with blackened greenhouse element just next to C-pillar. Blacked-out wing mirrors add to the oomph factor while at the rear, the car has a passing similarity to Hyundai Verns thanks to its angular, wrap-around tail lamps.
Inside the cabin, Nissan has continued to use black theme to aid sporty credentials of the car. Large screen touch screen infotainment system and flat bottom steering wheel are some of the other prominent features that deserve a mention here. International-spec Sunny has received a 1.6-liter petrol engine putting out 122 bhp and 158 Nm of max power and max torque respectively.
Transmission engines include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT gearbox. It is still unclear whether Nissan will bring this car to India but if it happens so, we expect the company to include a diesel engine option for our local market. However, the strong demand for the SUVs in case of Indian scenario might dissuade Nissan to take the plunge and bring updated Sunny to Indian shores. We will update you on whether Nissan is bringing this important product or not.
