Benelli has pulled the wraps off the new-generation 302R, the Chinese-owned Italian bike maker’s most affordable full-faired motorcycle. For those of you who don’t remember, the old generation 302R was on sale in India briefly when the brand was under the ownership of DSK. However, the model was discontinued in more recent years and never made a comeback under Hyderabad’s Mahavir Group ownership. However, that could just be because the new all-new 302R is likely to make its way here in the future and will take on the Kawasaki Ninja 300, TVS Apache RR 310, KTM RC 390 and the likes.
2021 BS6 Benelli 302R Design and Dimensions
The 2021 Benelli 302R has seen a complete overhaul over its predecessor. The bike looks sharper and more aggressive from all corners. The graphics are bolder than before and the headlamp unit now gets vertically-stacked projector lens units with LED turn indicators.
2021 BS6 Benelli 302R Speedometer
There’s also a new TFT screen on the motorcycle for the instrument console that looks effective and clearly much better than the old one.
2021 BS6 Benelli 302R Chassis, suspension and brakes
The 17″ front wheel in aluminium alloy mounts 110/70 tires and in the rear 150/60 tires. The 302R uses twin ø 260 mm floating discs with a 4 piston calliper brake at the front and a single ø 240 mm disc with a single-piston calliper brake for the rear. The frame underneath has been revised as well and the model has shed weight by 22 kg over its predecessor. Compared to the older 302R, the new motorcycle has a kerb weight of 182 kg.
Benelli 302R Engine And Specification
Coming to the powertrain, the Benelli 302R continues to use the 302cc parallel-twin engine that now meets Euro5 emission norms for Europe. The motor develops 35PS and 26 Nm, witnessing a marginal drop in output over the older model. However, the weight drop should also make the new 302R more responsive and not just a screamer anymore. The engine is mated to a smooth 6-speed gearbox.
2021 BS6 Benelli 302R Price and Launch
Prices could be around Rs. 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), which would make it attractively priced as a twin-cylinder offering. Launch is expected in late 2021.
