MG Motor India has unveiled the first teaser of the Next-Gen Hector with a 14” HD Portrait Infotainment System. MG Motor is calling this the next-gen Hector. We will have to wait and watch what the design of the exterior and interior will go through in terms of change. This could sit above the current Hector that is on sale. The powertrains are likely to remain the same.
What we can also see is the new interior is all black with a square push button start. The front and rear design could change but it is the side profile that needs the biggest change. The 18-inch wheels should continue and so will the 2.0-liter diesel and 1.5 petrol with and without hybrid. The poor DCT has already been replaced by the CVT in the petrol version.
It will be interesting to see if MG can bring a diesel automatic finally to the Hector as all its rivals now possess the same. The feature will include everything that was there earlier in the screen and around it. A large panoramic sunroof, Wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, a sound system by Infinity, steering controls, dual-zone climate control, and most importantly the inclusion of ADAS feature. First seen on the Gloster and Astor, they are making their way to Hector. Hector Plus could also spawn but it could have a different suffix in front of its name to distinguish over the current Hector plus that is on sale.
Stay tuned as the launch should happen in late August 2022 and more details will follow before that.
