Details related to the use of hydrogen at this point in time are scarce but reports are suggesting that the program director of the Land Rover, Nick Miller has confirmed that the MLA-Flex platform of the company can easily accommodate the powertrain sourcing its motive force from hydrogen fuel. Just so you know, the fifth-generation Range Rover model is based on the MLA-Flex platform. The company will offer the hydrogen-powered version of Range Rover alongside the battery-operated variants of the SUV.

What further lends credence to the rumors is the fact that the JLR has been working on the prototype of a hydrogen-powered vehicle which is based on the Defender SUV. The prototype is part of Land Rover’s Project Zeus and its testing is scheduled to commence very soon in future. It’s interesting to witness the emergence of hydrogen as one of the credible fuel options and companies finally warming to the idea of using it to power their vehicles.
