Japanese automaker Toyota continues to dominate the SUV sales chart not only in India but across the South East Asia region. Leading from the front is the Toyota Fortuner SUV which comes in the price range of Rs 32.39 lakh and Rs 49.57 lakh in India, making it quite a costly offering in the market. However, Toyota has now launched a more affordable variant of the Fortuner at a starting price of Rs 29.85 lakh although this launch has taken place in Thailand.
The new affordable version comes in two trims: Leader G priced at 1,371,000 baht (Rs 29.85 lakh) and Leader V priced at 1,490,000 (Rs 32.42 lakh). The G variants also get an additional option of a 4WD layout which is priced at 1,560,000 baht (Rs 33.94 lakh). In terms of styling changes, Toyota has blacked-out some of the elements upfront to give it a distinctive personality from the regular variants of Fortuner.
Leader comes with new front and rear bumpers which along with reimagined grille make for an aggressive turnout of the SUV. Toyota has offered Leader in a total six shades with prominent color options including Attitude Black Mica and Emotional Red among others. Inside the cabin, you get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 8-way power adjustable front seats, auto climate control, auto-dimming internal rear-view mirror, and leather upholstery.
With 18-inch alloys intact, Fortuner Leader continues to pack a powerful performance in the form of 150PS and 400Nm from a 2.4-liter oil burner with 4-cylinder configuration. The transmission option includes a six-speed automatic gearbox and in terms of safety features, the Leader comes equipped with seven airbags, 6-positioning parking sensors including front and rear, a rear alert for cross-traffic, and blind spot monitoring system. Some other significant features available on the SUV include a 360-degree surround view camera, Hill start assist and Brake Assist among others.
