Nothing ever dies in the Bajaj motorcycle universe. Despite bringing new products in the Pulsar range, the company recently revived models like the Pulsar 220F and Pulsar NS160, and the company is now gearing up to re-launch the Avenger Street 220. The cruiser motorcycle will join the Avenger Cruise 220 that’s currently on sale and gets more neo-retro styling with minimal chrome accents.
Unlike the Avenger Cruise 220 which looks like a traditional cruiser, the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 gets an all-black treatment and will be identical to the Avenger Street 160 also on sale currently. Expect the round headlamp, long seat, blacked-out engine and alloy wheels to be carried over. Similarly, the single-pod digital instrument console and the telltale lights on the fuel tank will be carried over as well.
The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 will draw power from the same 220cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Cruise 220 and Pulsar 220F. The motor produces 19PS and 17.55Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine was recently updated to meet BS6 Phase 2 compliance and is also E20 fuel ready.
Other hardware components include telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. A single disc at the front and drum brake at the rear take care of the stopping power. The bike comes only with single-channel ABS as standard. The Avenger Street 220 is expected to arrive at showrooms in a few days and an official launch will follow soon. Expect the model to be priced around Rs 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), which means the Cruise 220 could see a price hike. Traditionally, the Street 220 was always the more affordable variant of the two.
