All-new named and re-branded Honda NX400 and the updated CBR400R have been launched! However, only for the Japanese market. 400cc market only exisits in a few country and in the home country of all Japanese manufacturers. Surprisingly, they work in India too. Unsurprisingly, since it does not work in more than a few market, it does not really make sense for Honda India to bring them here or even make them here. However, since a decade, we still have our fingers crossed. Yes, we are optimistic. We think Honda India just avoid questions from the press in India. As if, even after they bring it to India, some day, they will asked endless and un-necessary queries.
Both the CBR400R and NX400 are based on the 400cc platform and interestingly they look a lot like their respective 500cc siblings – the CBR500R and Honda NX500. The CBR400R has the same aggressive design updated with dual LED headlights and a sharp tail. Additionally, it is difficult to distinguish the NX400 from the NX500 except for the sticker on the back.
Updates on the CBR400R include a new 5-inch TFT instrument panel with three display modes: Bar, Circle and Simple. It also benefits from smartphone connectivity for call and text alerts, music streaming and turn-by-turn navigation via the Honda RoadSync app. Additionally, it now has Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which is essentially Honda’s version of traction control. This super sports car is equipped with a 399 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine, producing 46 horsepower and 38 Nm of torque.
The all-new Honda NX400 is also equipped gets the same 400 cc engine with identical power and torque. But compared to the CBR400R, the NX400 (which is an ADV) benefits from a 1,435 mm longer wheelbase, 150 mm higher ground clearance, 800 mm higher seat height and 196 kg heavier curb weight. It also gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, compared to the 17-inch wheels at both ends that its supercar sibling gets. The ADV also gets the same TFT instrument panel with traction control and smartphone connectivity.
Honda CBR400R and NX400 are unlikely to come to India soon as the Japanese manufacturer has just launched the all-new Honda NX500 in India. Based on this decision, the Honda CBR500R is the supersport model that will most likely come to India by the end of 2024 to compete with the Aprilia RS 457, Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 500 and KTM RC 390 is coming soon.
