The Maruti Suzuki Swift launches the new generation in May, almost six months after its Japanese debut, in India. It is to be one of the biggest launches of the year and it has already taken its home four-wheeler market by storm. The car has gotten four star rating in the latest round of Japan’s new car rating program. The new Swift for the Japanese market gets Level 2 ADAS as part of the whole deal. This is something India might not get.
The also scored 4/5 in the full rollover crash test (driver’s seat), the offset frontal crash (driver’s seat), the pedestrian head protection test and the passenger seat belt reminder (PSBR) test. The lowest score was the first exterior crash test (rear passenger seat), where it was rated 3/5. Earned a total of four stars and a score of 177.80/197. If the Japanese tests are anything to go by, the Indian-spec car shouldn’t be too far behind and will still perform well in the BNCAP crash tests as well.
