The 2018 Ford Mustang lets go of its V6 but gains some nifty never before tech

The world’s most famous muscle car by a fair margin has just been unveiled in its 2018 avatar and to say it looks smashing would be an understatement. However, not much has changed mechanically in the 2018 Ford Mustang, but it has undergone a visit to the saloon. The exterior of the car get some redesign and the result is a meaner angrier Mustang. There is a new bonnet and grill design going for even more bad tempered muscle appeal. This time around, every variant of the car features LED headlamps while the rear also gets some of the LED treatment along with a redesign bumper.

The new ‘Tang also gets and updated performance package in the form of magneto-rheological suspension that can adjust damping forces as per changes in road conditions. All variants of the 2018 Ford Mustang feature updated shock absorbers and sway bars. You will also get a new active exhaust system. This year’s model has also earned a number of technological advancements for the Pony car. It includes a rather large 12-inch all-digital LCD dashboard screen customizable for Normal, Sport and Track modes. Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system comes with Sync Connect, allowing owners to lock, unlock, locate and start vehicles using a phone.

If that is not all, for the first time the Mustang is getting a number of driver aids as well. These features include forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist. On the powertrain front, Ford is no longer selling the V6 base variants of the car. Its place is now filled with the 2.3-liter I4 engine. The 5.0-liter V8 remains, which has been reworked to make additional power and a higher redline. This has been possible thanks to a new system that combines port and direct fuel injection. A six-speed manual transmission is available for both models, as is Ford’s new 10-speed automatic.

Expect the car to arrive in Indian market sometime early in 2018.
