2017 Mahindra KUV 100 Facelift would be high on mileage and will have a cleaner more pleasing design at the front
Mahindra’s new launch the KUV 100 has made an entry into the compact hatchback segment. Mahindra KUV is a SUV among the hatchback models. This compact hatch back had been released one year ago i.e. on Jan 16,2016. The KUV 100 has steadily lost grounds in the market recording the lowest sales of 1953 units in December 2016, whereas it recorded the peak in sales of 5157 units in March 2016. This is a huge drop as a lot of discounts were doled out.
The Mahindra KUV 100 comes in 8 attractive colours such as: – flamboyant red, Perl white, designer grey, dazzling silver, fiery orange, midnight black. It also comes in colour combinations like flamboyant red and metallic black and dazzling sliver and metallic black. Mahindra has carried forward the butch lines from the XUV 500, the slim headlamps with DRls gives a premium look to this car.
The KUV 100 has bigger, dynamic alloy wheels of 38.1cm on the K8, the spider design alloy on the K6 and K6+. The KUV 100 comes with a dual tone bumper and dynamic fog lamps. The length of the car is 3675mm, the width is 1715mm the height is 1655mm and has a ground clearance of 170mm. The boot capacity of this car is 243 litres which can be expanded up to 473 litres.
The tall design of the car ensures to give us enough head room for the front and for the rear despite the sloping roof. This car also has a 6th seat available if you want to squeeze in a passenger between the driver and the co- passenger. It also has a lap belt for the safety. The top end models get a black interior and the rest with a grey interior. The 4 speaker music system gets a Bluetooth and USB connectivity along with steering mounted controls.
The Mahindra KUV 100 is built around a monocoque chassis with a transverse mounted engine with powers the front wheels. The Mahindra KUV comes in two power train variants, the petrol and the diesel one. The petrol variant is called mFalcon G80 whereas the diesel one is called mFalcon D75. The 1.2 3-cylinder petrol engine develops 82bhp of power at 5500 rpm and 114 Nm of torque.
The 1.2 turbocharged diesel engine delivers 77 bhp of power at 3725 rpm and 190 Nm of torque. Both these engines are mated with a 5 speed gearbox. The petrol variant is micro hybrid with a start stop technology whereas the diesel variant gets the Eco and power modes. The mileage for the petrol and diesel variants are 18.14 and 25.31 respectively.
This car comes pact with a loads of safety features they are dual airbags in the front, abs in all variants, monocoque construction ISOFIX child seat mounted on the rear seat, automatic hazard warning lamps on panic breaking, dual rear fog lamps, speed sensing automatic door locks and engine immobilizer.
The car is pricing starts from 4.7 lakhs (ex-showroom Chennai) for the base petrol variant and 5.7 lakhs for the base diesel variant. The Mahindra KUV is rivaling against the mid-size hatch backs like Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Swift, Nissan Micra, and the Renault Pulse.
