Volkswagen Ameo Cup Specifications reveal that this is by the far most potent race car that VW has ever made till date

The Volkswagen motorsport India had a very successful with the polo and the vento cup series and now is all set to kick start this year’s season with the ameo cup
Like the Ameo which is a make in India product the Ameo Cup car has been developed entirely at the Volkswagen plant in Pune. The Ameo is powered by a 1.8-litre, turbocharged TSI petrol engine that produces a horse power of 205hp at 6100 RPM and a torque of 320Nm between 3200 RPM and 4600 RPM. This is the same engine that sits under the hood of the GTI.

Just like the DSG dual-clutch automatic that is featured in the Vento series, the Ameo uses a 6-speed racing sequential gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters. The cars run on new 17-inch wheels shod with tyres that are specifically developed for this car by MRF.Braking duties are handled by 334mm ventilated discs at front and 232mm discs at the rear and has racing ABS

MR. SirishVissa, head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commented on the new Ameo Cup car saying that the car is not like nothing the indian motorsport has seen from the Volkswagen’s stable. He also adds that the car has more power and handling and it is also simple to budding racers to learn from. He also stated that the car is in par with the international standards and there are some new elements that will make this one one make series go to a new height.

MR. Karthik Tharani, Volkswagen Motorsport India, a development and test driver, added on the performance of the car saying that this car is a very well sorted car and recorded a lap time of 01:51.780, which is 4.6 seconds quicker as compared to the Vento Cup race car around the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT).

The Ameo Cup 2017 season is programmed to start in June at the Kari Motor Speedway near Coimbatore followed by couple of rounds at MMRT in Chennai and a round at Buddh International Circuit (BIC).
