Skoda Octavia facelift India launch has been done at a great price as GST relieves are transferred and promises a lot to the customer in terms of value
Skoda has already started accepting bookings for the Octavia facelift having a minimum booking of Rs. 51,000 and a waiting period of two to three months depending on the variant. The new Octavia is priced well thanks to post GST scenario which is quiet lower than the outgoing model. The new Octavia facelift has new upgrades about styling and is based on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform.
Coming to the exteriors, the front outlook is completely new with having new Quadra LED headlights, the trademark butterfly grille along with LED DRLs and fog lamps incorporated in the bumper.
The design however has been inspired from its elder sibling, Skoda Superb, which gives the Octavia facelift sharper features, bold character lines, sculpted wheel arches and chrome highlights. The side look stands out with the new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. At the the Octavia gets a revised bumper and tail-light cluster design.
Coming to the interiors of the facelift, the cabin remains identical to the current model, but with slight changes, like the new dual tone light beige and black interiors, and a new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. There is also a 9 inch infotainment system with a capacitive touch screen which supports Apple car play Android auto and mirror link. There’s also a large electrically operated panoramic sunroof. The boot is quite large with 580 litres of space.
Under the hood, the new Octavia comes in three variants that is one diesel and two petrol variants. The diesel variant will be propelled by a 2.0L TDI engine which has an enormous power of 145Ps and a peak torque of 320Nm, which comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch auto option.
As mentioned before the petrol variant comes with 2 engine options such as the 1.4L TSI turbo petrol engine am the 1.8L TSI petrol engine which produces 149 Ps of power and 180ps of power respectively. The former one is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the latter comes paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission. As far as safety is concerned, the top end variant gets 8 airbags while the base gets 4 airbags. ABS with EBD and traction control is standard with all variants.
