Not to high not to low, Jeep Compass India pricing is spot on and this should help Compass sell in proper high volume numbers
After a lot of speculation, Jeep has finally launched the Compass SUV in India. The Jeep Compass is apparently the most important model for the company. The Jeep Compass is being manufactured at FCA’s Ranjangoan Facility in Pune and is the first locally produced model in India.
The Compass will be the most affordable SUV from the American company in India. Jeep India believes that it will be the model that will generate a lot of volumes for the company in India.
Jeep India had already started taking bookings for the Compass SUV in India at a token amount of Rs.50,000 before its launch. The Compass has gained over 1,000 bookings till now. The Compass will be available in five exciting trims- Sports, Longitude, Limited, Longitude(O) and Limited(O).
Fiat Chrysler have invested $280 million at its facility for the production of the Jeep Compass. The Ranjangoan Facility will also be playing an important role in acting as an international hub of manufacturing all the right-hand drive models for the other RHD markets, which make it an critical export model as well.
Talking about the exterior the Compass is quite a typical SUV and comes with quite a bold and wide front end along with a typical 7-slat Jeep Grille. In profile, the Compass gets usually sqaured-off wheel arches and a offbeat floating roof design. It gets projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running lamps(DRLs) and LED tail lamps. The SUV gets 16-inch steel wheels, while the top trims will get 17-inch alloy wheels.
Jeep compass measures 4,447mm in length, 1,813mm in width, 1,615mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 2,634mm. The SUV carries a decent ground clearance of 178mm.
Jeep is offering the Compass with two engine variants a 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine generates 160 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm while the diesel engine produces 172 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will be available only with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, while the diesel motor will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The SUV gets four driving modes-Auto,Snow, Sand and Mud and the higher variants get the all wheel drive system (AWD) and is available in five colors-Vocal White, Brilliant Black, Minimal Grey, Hydro Blue and Exotic Red.
On the inside the SUV gets bunch of supplies like premium leather seats, 7-inch infotainment display with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, keyless entry with passive go, capless fuel system, power tailgate and a glass sunroof. Besides, the SUV gets 70 safety and security features.
As far as pricing is concerned, Jeep India has priced the Compass very reasonably. The 1.4-litre Multi-air Petrol models are priced between Rs. 14.95 lakh – Rs. 19.4 lakh. The Sport variant comes for Rs. 14.95 lakh while the Limited variant is priced for Rs. 18.70 and the top end Limited (O) is priced for Rs. 19.40 lakh.
Whereas the Multijet diesel variants are priced between Rs. 15.45 lakh – Rs. 20.65 lakh. First comes the base variant Sport priced for Rs. 15.45 lakh, Longitude variant priced for Rs. 16.45 lakh, Longitude (O) variant priced for Rs. 17.25 lakh, Limited variant priced for Rs. 18.05 lakh, Limited (O) priced for Rs. 18.75, Limited 4×4 priced for Rs. 19.95 lakh and the top end Limited (O) 4×4 is priced for Rs. 20.65 lakh.
