Tata X451 will sit above the previous Bolt and current Tiago and will be the fourth entrant after the Baleno, Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20
After successfully launching the Nexon in the country the Indian automaker Tata has been working on a premium hatchback which is codenamed as X451 which has been developed to rival against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz. The premium hatchback as they call it was spotted for the very first time in Pune while testing. The upcoming hatch is said to be the very first premium hatchback from Tata Motors and will be positioned above the Tiago.
The spotted prototype Tata X451 is still in its early stage of development and is seen under wraps so as to keep it disguised. The front fascia of the hatch has been fitted with temporary headlights. But the gap seen around the headlights clearly give us a hint of this premium hatch having swept-back headlight design. The rear also gets temporary tail lights and the masked prototype gets steel wheels.
The Tata X451 will be based on the company’s Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). As per the root, the length of the X451 premium hatchback will be 200mm more than the Tiago hatch, however, it will still fall under the 4-metre mark.
As for now there is no news regarding the technical aspects of the prototype. But we can expect the premium hatch getting the new 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Both the engines are already a part of the recently launched Nexon. Well it is the premium hatchback so it has to get the features of a premium class. Keeping that in mind Tata Motors will probably fit it up with lineaments such as touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and even automatic climate control. Speculated to arrive in the country by the year 2019, the Tata X451 premium hatch will be developed at the Sanand Facility in Gujrat. With the increasing competition in this segment, Tata Motors is playing its game and rolling out new cards which will take on its rivals as mentioned above. The company is also expected to announce a sedan based on the X451 which will rival the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
