Volvo XC40 India Launch has the competition already worried as Volvo has priced the SUV ridiculously well!
Premium compact SUV’s are taking the centre stage now. The new BMW X1, Audi’s Q3 and Mercedes’s GLA have had quite a party now. Volvo plans to enter this segment with their all-new XC40 baby SUV. Volvo XC40 India specific model is the first car to be built on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) just like other for other markets worldwide. Volvo India plans to attract a younger audience with this new baby SUV and hence it is pitched as an entry-level premium car.
Volvo XC40 India specific model be made available in a single guise only, which is the R-Design variant. The R-Design variant comes with a four-cylinder diesel motor that pumps out 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to an eight-speed auto gearbox. Interestingly this car features all-wheel drive configuration as standard thus making it stand out amongst its rivals. Although not confirmed, Volvo is considering adding another variant to the line-up in the near future; however, that will entirely depend on the response that this car gathers.
This entry-level SUV boasts of some not-so-entry-level features. Volvo XC40 India specific Features are wireless phone charging, 19-inch alloy wheels, powered tailgate, heated front and rear seats and a 750 watt Harmann Kardon stereo with 12-speakers. No, the list is not over, there’s a dual tone interior theme and a 9 inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Safety Features include lane-keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, emergency braking, ESP, traction control, hill descent control and multiple airbags too. Volvo has released the date of launch and it is the 4th of July. Bookings for the XC40 have already started and the booking amount is INR 5 lacs. Volvo India expects the first batch of 200 cars to be already booked before the official launch takes place.
The XC40 R-Design variant will be bought via the CBU route as of now. Rs 39.9 lakhs for the fully loaded trims makes it intense value offering in its segment. Volvo has put up a stiff competition against its European rivals. Will the new XC40 make a mark? Very likely with that pricing.
