Ducati Monster 797 Plus India Launch takes place along with the 821. Gets two things which are an option on the expensive 821 Monster.
The middleweight segment in the motorcycle industry is blooming and for good reasons. These motorcycles pack superbike levels of performance, they’re way easy on the wallet than their superbike counterparts and at the same time, they are quite practical too. And no we aren’t just talking about our country, middleweight motorcycles form the majority of motorcycle sales all over the Globe.
Ducati’s Monster range of motorcycles is revered and respected for their iconic status and legacy. With the Italian’s strong backing, Monster went on to become a recognized brand. Ducati has two versatile motorcycles in this segment. Both targeted towards a different audience. Yes, we are talking about none other than the Monster 797 and the Monster 821.
Ducati recently launched the updated Monster 821. The model is inspired from the old and quintessential M900. While we do have a separate article for the same, for now, let’s talk more about the new Monster 797 Plus.
The 797 Plus as Ducati calls it is a slightly restyled version of the original Monster 797. The ‘Plus’ gets a seat cowl and a flyscreen as standard. These two add-ons round off the changes. Ducati India says that the flyscreen will offer better wind protection whilst doing high speeds, which the Monster is so capable of. The colour of the flyscreen and the seat cowl match the color of the tank. Existing 797 owners can retrofit these accessories to their bike. This will set them back by INR 30,000 or thereabouts. Mechanically there aren’t any changes. The new 797 still runs on the same 803cc L-Twin motor that puts out 72 horses and 67 Nm of torque.
The price of the 797 Plus is exactly the same as the old 797. Its introductory price tag is INR 8.03 lacs (ex-showroom). In India the Monster 797 goes against the likes of the Kawasaki Z650 and Benelli 600i on the lower side, while against the Street Triple S and Kawasaki Z900 (no accessory edition) on the higher side.
