Suzuki Motorcycle India today launched their global flagship Motocross bikes – RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 designed specifically to promise an exhilarating off-roading experience to the riders. The bikes will be imported through the completely built unit (CBU) route which partly explains their high sticker price. The model range includes RMZ – 250 and RM-Z450. Just so you know, all these Dirt Bikes are not road legal as they lack basic equipment like headlamps, tail lights, indicators etc. and can only be used for racing or recreational purposes.
RM-Z250 which is the full-sized dirt bike powered by a 250cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. The bike has fully adjustable front and rear KYB suspensions and features seat height of 955 mm. The kerb-weight of RMZ -250 tips the scale at 106 kg. The RMZ -450 – with an exceptionally high 960mm seat height – comes powered by a 449cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke oil cooled engine and at 112 kg, it weighs similar to the Z250.
With the winning history of RM-Z450, the 2019 variant is powered with the 449 cm3, 4-stroke, fuel injected, DOHC engine for a faster yet controllable throttle response. It comes equipped with Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) which has three selectable modes to choose the best option as per road condition. While maintaining the winning speed, the RM-Z450 is the first motocross bike to adopt new balance free rear cushion (BFRC) technology ensuring excellent traction and better shock absorption offering high responsiveness on the track.
Similarly, Suzuki the 2018 RM-Z250 is powered with a 249cm3, 4-stroke, fuel injected, DOHC engine with a compact and lightweight design powers the engine’s winning performance. The bike comes equipped with Fuel Injection (FI) system and aluminium rims, which are made specifically to withstand rugged racing environments, including Supercross, Motocross and off-roading condition. Suzuki has directly pitted these bikes against the Kawasaki’s range (KX and KLX series) in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 7.10 lakh, the Suzuki’s RM-Z250 will take on Kawasaki’s KX 250F priced at Rs 7.43 lakh, while a slightly higher priced Suzuki RM-Z450 at Rs 8.31 lakh will rival KX 450F of Kawasaki retailing at Rs Rs 7.79 lakh.
