Kawasaki has freed some space for the Z900 after its ZH2, a new supercharged bike raising the performance standards with its absolutely mad 231 PS of peak performance. 2020 Kawasaki Z900 has now been positioned as a slightly more sensible bike in its 2020 avatar although make no mistake about its slightly subdued demeanor.

Displacing 948cc on an in-line four-cylinder arrangement, 2020 Kawasaki Z900 still puts out 124 bhp along with 99 Nm of max torque. The changes have been made to the motor to make it compliant with Euro-5 emission norms and for that, a new catalytic converter has been fitted to the exhaust system which helps reduce net emission from the bike. The bike weighs 212 kg (curb-weight) and provides a decent performance especially in the mid-rev range.

2020 Kawasaki Z900 include a new fancy looking TFT instrument cluster that offers a host of information to the rider. More importantly, you get two power modes, a three-level traction control system, and four different riding modes, all coming together to promise a fun riding experience. To further up the ante, Kawasaki has used all-around LED lighting which looks nice and adds to the safety aspect of the bike.

2020 Kawasaki Z900 will also offer a slightly detuned version, A2 license model of the bike which will come up with an output of 94bhp. The company could go further down and possibly limit the power output to 47bhp to meet the learner legal compliance. The updated Z900 will reach the Indian market by mid-2020 and expected to be priced around Rs 8.70 lakh.
This update will also have implications for the Z1000 model. As Z900 is also going to operate in a sub-1-liter domain, it makes little sense for Kawasaki to keep both models targeting the same segment. We can possibly see the withdrawal of Z1000 from the market in 2021.
