With Yamaha’s fresh launch of the Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125, the brand already had a different plan for the existing 110cc scooters. Yamaha has officially announced the relinquishment of its 110 scooters such as the Fascino, Ray Z, Ray ZR and the Alpha, and none of these models will be upgraded to the Bharat Stage 6 emission norms.
All in all, Yamaha won’t supply new stock once the dealers exhaust the current 110cc scooters. Fascino has been Yamaha’s highest selling scooter, but with the slumped down sales in the Indian auto industry, the sales figures have gone down noticeably. The sales figures went down from 20,268 in September 2018 to 13,124 in September 2019 for the Fascino.
However, this doesn’t mean Yamaha’s exit from the scooter segment. Yamaha has introduced a new 125cc scooter platform and the Fascino 125 and the Ray ZR 125 are the first members to the line-up. Yamaha has done more than just adding a 125cc motor. The new Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125 have a BS6 compliant motor, new design as well as added features. So with an increased sticker price, Yamaha also has quite a lot to offer and make the scooters worth every buck.
Talking about the pricing, the Fascino will set you back by Rs 66,430 for the standard drum-brake version and Rs 69,930 for the disc-brake version. Now that’s some cutting-edge pricing considering the BS6 Honda Activa 125 and the TVS Jupiter. With the introduction of added power and features, Yamaha’s only task is to flourish into the 125cc segment. This might not only pull the existing customer base but also a group of 125cc buyers.
Talking about the Ray ZR 125 and the Street Rally 125, both these models have also received a BS6 compliant mill and other added tech. Currently, there is no concrete news on the pricing as the official launch is yet happening.
