Welcome the most affordable electric SUV in the Indian market – Mahindra eKUV100 Electric. The electric SUV has been launched at a price of Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi including the subsidies offered under the FAME scheme).
We get straight to the heart of the matter – the electric motor. Mahindra eKUV1OO uses a 40kW electric motor capable of producing 54.4bhp of max power that is channelized to front-wheels. Mahindra claims a decent range of 150 km on a single full charge and in terms of charging options, Mahindra has provided fast charging alternative in addition to regular charging speed. While the regular option will completely charge the battery in a time frame of 5 hours and 45 minutes, fast charging can accomplish the same in only 55 minutes.
Mahindra eKUV100 Electric shape and size are similar to its regular, ICE-powered counterpart. However, there are some differences that tell this electric version apart from the standard model. Take, for instance, the closed front grille in the eKUV1OO. This change has been incorporated in order to maximize the aerodynamic efficiency of the SUV which will, in turn, help you to reduce the drag and extend the range to the maximum possible extent. Another important change is the relocated fuel filler (which contains charging point in the eKUV1OO) that has now been shifted to the front fender of the SUV. All other design cues and body panels have been carried forward from the standard model to this electric model.
It will be interesting to witness how prospective buyers will react to this new electric launch from the house of Mahindra. Of course, the price of eKUV1OO is quite attractive and affordable but the range is not something to be going gaga about. Yes, this range will be able to ferry you in the city comfortable without much worry but over the long distances, you might require proper charging infrastructure for a fuss-free drive.
