Skoda vision IN made its debut in 2020 Auto Expo and is expected to go on for sale in 2021 while being known as the Skoda Kliq very likely. The exact date hasn’t been finalized yet but we guesstimate that the Skoda SUV will come to a showroom near you in the first quarter of the FY 2021-22. Recently the patent images of the Vision IN have been leaked; thereby giving a clear view of exteriors that Skoda Kliq SUV will come equipped with.
Skoda Vision IN is based on MQB A0 IN platform and the overall design of SUV is quite aggressive and butch. Some of the prominent elements defining the overall character of the Vision IN include sharp LED headlamps, radiator grill with protruding ribs, sculpted bonnet, and low-set air intake. In addition, alloy wheels, all-round body cladding, and skid plates bring extra flavor to the design. We do not expect these radical elements to make their way into the production version at the same intensity as the design is expected to be soberer or toned down.
In terms of dimension, the concept Skoda Kliq SUV measures 4256mm from head to toe and features a wheelbase of 2671 mm. The concept sits on the 19-inch alloy wheels and comes powered by a 1.5-liter TSI motor with a total output of 150 PS. The production version will feature the same dimensions but taking into consideration the road conditions we are having in India, Skoda will replace the 19-inch with 17-inch alloys.
There will be two engine options that prospective buyers can choose from – a 110PS/175Nm 1.0-liter TSI and a 150PS/250Nm 1.5-liter TSI EVO turbocharged motor. On the transmission front, Skoda Kliq will get a 6-speed manual gearbox and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. It is unlikely that Skoda will offer the AWD system on the SUV.
In terms of feature, we expect the Skoda Kliq SUV to come equipped with 6 safety airbags, a 9.2-inch touch screen infotainment system, LED headlamps and taillights, connected vehicle service, panoramic sunroof, and a large 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Upon arrival, Skoda Vision IN will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, and Kia Seltos among others
