2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 seems to be coming back at the EICMA show as it teased today in a video. Yamaha could win a lot of praise if this turns true

Yamaha is completely revising their entire motorcycle portfolio. It added a lot of new motorcycles and classes and competed with the Europeans. The MT series start from 03 and now ends at 10. There is a tracer, tourer and high-end touring machines coming from Yamaha these days. The R1 took the market by storm and took down the competition as well. Yamaha offered it could with the R1 and other motorcycles. Looks like it is now going back to the roots. The alleged 2017 R6 video teaser video is out. Yup, no joke. The R6 is back will make its entry into a segment which has died. Honda took the competition out of some markets couple of months back. Yes, we are talking about the 600RR. The R6 is back and looses a lot of weight and gains a lot of aerodynamics, let’s look at numbers!

2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 Design and Dimensions

The design language and everything is very similar to the new R1 that was launched recently. Alien face, a very sculpted and odd look front fairing panels and a minimalist rear section. Dimensions are completely revised and expect racing colors from Yamaha such as Blue and Yellow to make it to the motorcycle. The tail is heavily inspired from the new 2015 R1. All this has helped achieved a 8% aerodynamic betterment over the previous model and is the most aerodynamic model Yamaha has made.

2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 Price and Launch

Launch will happen Europe and America in early 2017 and will be priced around $12,199.

2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 Chassis, suspension and brakes

We see all the electronics aids of modern day motorcycles on this new R6. As these are things that old motorcycle lacked. Package includes 6 level traction control, ride by wire, 3 riding modes and many more rider aids. We see a quick shifter along with ABS on the motorcycle.

The chassis is inspired from the R1 and plonked into this and then revised to fit better into this package. Aluminum swingarm is part of the motorcycle. Magnesium subframe has lowered the weight even more. Perimeter frame, upside 43 mm KYB forks (not fancy Italian stuff) Nissin brakes are seen. Yamaha is keeping cost check if this motorcycle will be made on the R1 platform as pricing and profit can be a lot lower as seen and heard in stories in the past. 320mm front dual disc brakes are seen on the motorcycle.

2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 Engine And Specification

We expect the motorcycle to churn out the same old 124BHP at the crank. The engine is Euro 4. Torque will be around the 100 Nm mark and these numbers will be made very high in rev range. BHP and torque numbers are still unknown. What has been just confirmed is that it has valves made of titanium head and other parts of the engine are made of magnesium and it has a titanium exhaust.

2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 Safety and Features

ABS is standard with this new Yamaha. Full LCD speedometer and many more features can be expected with the motorcycle showing a lot of information needed for the rider.
