The competition in the 125 CC segment is likely to hot up in the future. While there is already KTM Duke 125 ruling the segment, the expected entry of Yamaha MT 125, Yamaha XSR125 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 are sure to further raise the temperature. We compare all these bikes on the specification review to give you a glimpse of the choices you’ll soon have in the future.
Engine, Chassis, and Gearbox
All bikes here come powered by 125cc engines and unsurprisingly, these are closely matched in terms of their output performance. Both power and torque outputs bikes are similar and the same is true for the 6-speed gearbox that comes standard on all the bikes. In terms of frame, KTM 125 Duke and Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 uses Steel trellis frame while steel deltabox is common to both Yamaha MT 125 and Yamaha XSR 125.
Suspension and Braking System
There is again a lot of similarities when it comes to suspension and braking system on these bikes. KTM and Husqvarna choose to go ahead with the inverted telescopic forks at the front and monoshock rear suspension system while both Yamaha contenders come equipped with USD Telescopic fork and spring arm rear suspension. Front and rear disc brakes are also a standard part of the equipment and there’s not much difference in the size of wheels either on all four bikes.
3. Dimensions and Footprints
Husqvarna is yet to reveal the official specification of Svartpilen 125 and among the rest of the three bikes, KTM Duke 125 is the lengthiest one while Yamaha XSR 125 comes across as the widest bike. KTM again comes on top dwarfing competition on height, wheelbase, and overall ground clearance. Yamaha MT 125 has the lowest ground clearance in this comparison with its belly being 140 mm off the ground.
