Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has silently given the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade a Rs. 10 lakh price cut. The litre-class superbike now retails at Rs. 23.11 lakh for the red shade, while the black colour sets you back by Rs. 23.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). The bike was previously priced at Rs. 33 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive offering in its segment. The price cut is applicable to the 2021 Honda CBR1000RR-R, which reports suggest is limited to the last few units. So, head to the dealership now, if you are planning to get one.
The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade retains the same mechanicals despite the price cut. Power comes from the 1000cc inline, four-cylinder engine tuned for 2200PS at 14,500RPM and 113Nm of peak torque at 12,500RPM. The motor is paired with a 6-speed transmission along with an assist and slipper clutch. The CBR1000RR-R is available in only two colours – red and black. Other safety aids on the CBR include Honda’s Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) dual 330mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS.
Do note that the recently launched Honda Fireblade was nearly twice as expensive as its rivals. This includes the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R that’s priced at Rs. 15.83 lakh, while the Ducati Panigale V4 is priced from Rs. 23.50 lakh. The Aprilia RSV4 is also cheaper at Rs. 23.69 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
On a related note, Honda India has also silently recalled the 2020 CBR1000RR-R owing to a faulty oil cooler outlet pipe. The recall suggests that riding the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R in the first gear could prompt the exhaust gas to leak due to overheating. This, in turn, could damage the resin hose used for the oil cooler outlet pipe. The damaged pipe can cause an oil leak that can spill on the exhaust and the rear tyre, increasing the risk of a crash, injury or fire. The recall was first announced in Japan, followed by Europe and the US and now makes its way to the Indian market. Do note, only seven units of the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade have been affected by the recall.
