Update: As expected, the Audi A8L Launch has been now confirmed for July 2022.
Audi India could delay the launch or delay the deliveries of the Audi A8 in India. Either decision could be on the cards because the lockdown in China, chip shortage, and Ukraine war has dramatically impacted the supply chain and the Audi A8 production has been shut down in Neckarsulm plant in Germany. Models such as the Audi A4 and A5 also share the same fate. However, the A5 India launch is far away, the Audi A4 is made in India to a very large extent. Audi did start bookings in India along with its pre-launch activities but that has gone cold and we suspect this is the reason. Delaying the launch and further delayed deliveries are imminent as the cars made in Germany were set to be exported to India as full CBU units. Audi India very likely has no plans to make the Audi A8 in India as it does not make the right business case for the company. The car was set to be launched in India with a V6 petrol motor with Quattro and a mild-hybrid unit which was recently seen in the Audi Q7. Audi A8 rivals the mighty Mercedes S-Class along with the new BMW 7-Series that has created a wave in the luxury car market but that is set for launch in early 2023 worldwide.
