Tata Motors has silently rejigged the Harrier line-up and introduced three new variants on the SUV. The mid-level ZXS, ZXS dual-tone and XZS Dark Edition are offered with manual and automatic transmissions and bring a host of kit at a more affordable price tag. The Harrier XZS is priced at Rs. 20 lakh, going up to Rs. 21.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the XZS Dark Edition.
Adding to the set of features seen on the lower variants, the Tata Harrier XZS comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch dual-tone diamond cut alloy wheels, six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, auto dimming IRVM and more. Previously, these features were exclusively available on the XZ+ and XZA+ trims. However, the top-spec variants still get ventilated front seats and iRA connected car technology, which come at a premium cost.
The Tata Harrier is fairly kitted and gets Xenon HID projector lens headlamps, LED DRLs, front fog lamps, electrically foldable ORVMs with turn indicators, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, JBL sound system, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Recent updates also saw the model getting features like an air purifier. The five-seater SUV also comes with six airbags, hill descent control, ABS, driving modes, reverse parking camera with sensors and more. There’s also corner stability control, roll over mitigation, hill hold control, traction control and electronic stability program (ESP). Power comes from the Stellantis sourced 2.0-litre diesel with 170PS and 350Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include the 6-speed manual and a torque converter.
The Tata Harrier has been around for a while and the SUV is expected to get a comprehensive facelift in 2023. This will include design changes as well as more features with the possibility of ADAS tech.
