The development of the Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV is in full swing. The company has shown the concept of the SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo and now the prototype of the same has been spotted testing in Poland. The test version was heavily camouflaged and by the looks of it, the SUV seemed to have retained much of its design from the concept version. The overall stance of the SUV felt rugged and thanks to crucial design elements such as a high-set bonnet, flared arches, and steeply raked A-pillar, the production version of eVX is likely to boast solid road presence. Other striking elements spotted on the test mule include wrap-around tail lamps, integrated spoiler, and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles.

The real twist will manifest in interiors as eVX is likely to come with a cabin that no one has witnessed before on any Maruti Suzuki product. The space will be in oodles and thanks to the electric drivetrain, occupants will get access to ample legroom, knee room, and headroom among others. The flat floor will come as an added advantage though the placement of the battery pack will also play an important in the overall space management of the SUV. The steering will feature a squarish geometry and with a 2-spoke design, it is likely to come across as a standout feature. Both the instrumental cluster and touchscreen will be housed in a free-standing digital display unit. The spy images of the test mule also reveal the crucial feature of different drive modes that this electric SUV will offer to buyers.

eVX is significant in the sense that it’s based on a dedicated EV platform that Maruti has developed jointly with Toyota. The SUV comes powered by a 60-kWh battery back and is capable of offering a maximum range of 550 km. The number is decent and if eVX is able to deliver even 70-80% of the claimed range in real-world conditions, it will emerge as a formidable contender in the EV space globally.
