We have heard multiple times throughout 2024 and now we can confirm that the TVS is making a cruiser of 300cc. Earlier it was speculated that it could be made with the BMW engine, but sources suggested it was all new. The new engine revealed by the company at an event held in Goa pretty much confirms this rumour. The 299cc engine, not the 310cc BMW engine could power this motorcycle. The RTX is the engine name. The engine will make it to the Ronin which is struggling with sales to a certain extent in the premium space where Bajaj and its partners along with Enfield and Hero are roaring with success. A bigger heart and larger stance could come and solve the problem Ronin is facing, which in return, could later get this update as well and retain the 225cc as well.
RT-XD4 is a new 299cc engine developed by TVS using the latest technology. The new 299cc engine is capable of producing 35 Bhp of power and 28.5 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a clutch. TVS claims this engine is totally made in house without BMW part sharing, but the learning could have come from there.
The engine produces maximum power at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque at 7,000 rpm. The bore and stroke sizes have also been revised, now being 78mm x 62.6mm. For reference, the Apache 310 RR engine produces 37.5 Bhp of power and 29 Nm of torque.
Other details include that the new engine uses dual overhead camshafts, plasma-coated cylinders, and dual cooling jackets in the cylinders. Additionally, TVS says that they have focused on torque with this engine, so you can expect linear torque delivery, making everyday driving easier an ideal fit for incoming cruiser. The adventure bike being speculated and expected will come, but it will be rebadged GS 310 later in late 2025 as well. That bike will have the TVS Apache RTR 310 platform that TVS has refined over the BMW by adding more refinement and power.
