Bajaj has slashed the price of its flagship Freedom CNG bike by Rs 10,000. Less than six months after its launch. The reasons right now are unknown. This could be supply chain pricing easing of or logistics. The another reason was that people’s voice did say that the product was right, but it was expensive, a reason why Bajaj seems to have quickly responded. The LED kickstand and mid-drum versions of the Freedom are now priced at Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Following this price cut, the mid-drum variant of the Bajaj Freedom starts at Rs 89,997, a reduction of Rs 5,000 from earlier. The mid-drum version has seen a bigger price cut of Rs 10,000 and is now priced at Rs 95,002. However, the top-of-the-line Freedom 125 LED kickstand still carries the original price tag of Rs 1.10 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Freedom is a new offering from Bajaj, featuring a new 125cc ‘sloper’ engine, a trellis frame and the ability to switch between CNG and petrol while riding. As we found in our high mileage tests, the Freedom’s unique selling point is its ability to run at half its running costs (compared to similar gas-powered bikes). Bajaj has been slashing prices for a lot of their models, including KTM’s. This could be temporary move or clearly passing on the benefits.
