Yamaha MT25 could be the India specific model as the MT-03 plans have been shelved and a 250cc ‘Mystery’ motorcycle was imported in India recently
Yamaha has done something that will make all Yamaha fans go crazy, we mean it. The spy mule testing here for the first time here has some interesting bits that show something one of a kind in the making, especially for the Indian market. Last time you heard these words was in 2008 when we all got the Fazer and FZ-16 and trillion colors that followed till date. 8 years down the line, Yamaha is set to do all of that again. What is seen here is a very possibility of a 200/250cc motor that is a single-cylinder unit with budget parts on board. We have all the details and scrutinized every bite for to make sure you know everything about this new quarter liter from Yamaha.
Yamaha MT25/FZ-250 Design and Dimensions
Majority of the cycle parts on this bike is from the new FZ. The tail-piece, the grab rails, split seats and much more. The front fascia though comes from the M-Slaz sold in Indonesia. Tank is also the same as the FZ. The tank fairing also resembles to the current FZ. Most of the items are camouflage. Tail-lamps resemble very much to the new Apache RTR 200.
Yamaha MT25/FZ-250 Chassis, suspension and brakes
Most likely to share everything from the new FZ platform. Fat front forks, monoshock mounted on the swingarm can be seen. Fat tyres similar to the what the FZ-16 has now is seen here. Larger discs and calipers are visible, but we are not sure about the same for now. We can see new MRF sticky tyres added to the bike wheels.
Yamaha MT25/FZ-250/FZ200 Price and Launch
Prices should be in the price range of 1.5 and 1.7 lakh on-road for this single-cylinder Yamaha. Launch can happen in late 2017, which is an year from now.
Yamaha MT25/FZ-250/FZ200 Engine And Specification
Now these details what we can see as visuals is a large capacity single-cylinder engine that could displace either 200cc or 250cc. There is an oil-cooler that can be seen here which means cost are kept in check to make sure performance and price go hand in hand. We expect it to deliver around 28-30 BHP of power and 24-26 Nm of torque. 4-valve head is also most likely to come along with fuel-injection since Yamaha has completely ditched carburetor for almost every bike it sells above the 150cc mark.

ABS isn’t visible here while testing, but expect it to be offered at launch. A feature loaded instrument cluster is expected.

Lot of things making now sense on why Yamaha did the FZ-16 as fuel-injection, went for new chassis and revised suspension and came up with a new engine internals for the 150cc variant. That could all have been done to make sure this is new quarter litre 200 or 250cc to be as practical, affordable and fun to ride.
