Ampere Vehicles unveiled the latest e-scooter projects at the Auto Expo 2023 and now we have seen one of them testing ahead of its launch in India. The scooter in this picture is an NXG, one of two products on the same platform. Aimed at individual consumers, it will be positioned as a premium option above the new Primus in the Ampere range. Although there is no visible sign of the scooter, its description suggests that the Ampere NXG e-scooter was unveiled early last year.
The luxurious appearance of the Ampere NXG is evident through elements such as pedals and headlights that shine through the bodywork, and it is the first Ampere to be equipped with front disc brakes. The photos show a large digital display that takes up almost the entire area of the handle, but we still don’t know if it’s an LCD or TFT unit. The NXG looks like a very comfortable scooter, but we’ll have to reserve final judgment on this until we ride the scooter. The single seat slopes slightly upwards towards the passenger area and has wide passenger handles.
At the Auto Expo, Ampere claimed that the NXG has a range of 120 km on a single charge, but it’s unclear what the actual capacity is and whether that’s an official figure or a real claim. It is not yet known whether the NXG will use lithium-ion batteries or lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries like the Primus. The latter is a substance that offers safe thermal properties but has a lower energy density compared to the widely used NMC. Considering the Primus retails at Rs 1,46,355 (ex-showroom, Delhi), we expect the NXG to cost more given the equipment on offer.
