Piaggio India will be pulling the Aprilia Storm 125 disc brake from the showrooms starting July 2022. The company has confirmed that the Aprilia range’s entry-level scooter will lose the disc brake variant that’s priced at Rs. 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Instead, the Storm 125 drum brake version will continue to be on sale and will come with Combi-Braking System (CBS) as standard. It remains the brand’s most accessible offering priced at Rs. 1.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Aprilia India has not cited any reason to discontinue the Storm 125 disc brake variant. The option was introduced with the BS6 update in 2020 but it seems the model did not find many takers. Moreover, there’s no difference between the drum brake and disc brake version of the Storm 125 barring the braking system itself. The scooter uses the same 125cc motor with 9.92PS and 9.7Nm of peak torque, paired with a CVT transmission.

The Aprilia Storm 125 uses a twin-pod instrument cluster, 6-litre fuel tank and 12-inch wheels that come with chunky Vee tyres with a block-thread pattern. The scooter is offered in five colours – red, white, black, yellow, and blue. The Aprilia Storm 125 takes on the TVS Ntorq 125, Yamaha RayZR 125, Suzuki Avenis 125, Honda Grazia 125 and the likes. While the Storm 125 loses a variant, the company has silently hiked prices across its other scooters including the SR125, SR160, SXR125 and the SXR160.
