Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has launched a multi-language dashboard interface for its family scooter, Rizta. The scooter’s dashboard will now support 8 regional languages – Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, making it more accessible to a wider audience and enhancing the overall riding experience. The rollout begins with the Hindi dashboard, with other regional languages to follow soon.
According to the Internet in India 2024 report by IAMAI and Kantar, 98% of internet users accessed content in Indic languages in 2024. Indians show a strong preference for engaging with digital content in their regional languages, which offer a sense of familiarity and comfort – whether it’s reading articles, watching videos, or gathering information. Understanding this, Ather worked on bringing to its consumers, the dashboard in multiple languages.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy Limited, said, “Since the beginning we have designed and built our technology and products from the ground up, keeping the needs of Indian consumers in mind. Our aim has always been to deliver quality user experiences that make our scooters more engaging. Given India’s rich diversity, and the pride that people take in their regional languages, our intent was to make our scooters more user friendly. We believe the multi-language dashboard would allow the riders to personalise their scooters in the language of their preference.“
The multi-language dashboard will be introduced as an over-the-air (OTA) software update to the AtherStackTM for existing and new Rizta Z owners. AtherStackTM, Ather’s software engine, is developed in-house and powers all the experiences on Ather Scooters. It provides customers with access to features like FallSafeTM , AutoHold TM, WhatsApp notifications on the dashboard, live location sharing, Ping My Scooter, Alexa integration, and more, enhancing convenience and connectivity.
Ather has two distinct lines of scooters – the Ather 450 and the Rizta that cater to the performance and convenience scooters respectively. These are tested particularly for India’s road conditions. The Rizta, which was launched in April 2024, focuses on comfort, convenience, and safety, it features a large seat, flat floorboard, reverse switch, safety features such as disc brake and traction control, WhatsApp notifications on the dashboard, voice commands through Alexa Skills integration, and, has an overall storage capacity of up to 56 L. Last year, Ather also launched Halo, a smart helmet that offers features such as ChitChatTM (i.e. a helmet-to-helmet communication system), a premium sound system, a microphone equipped with noise filtration, and Auto WearDetect sensors that automatically connects the helmet with the user’s phone when worn.
