Audi India is having a great 2022 and it seems 2023 could be record-breaking. Audi continued its strong sales momentum in Q1 2023 as it retailed 1,950 units from January to March 2023. Clearly, the VW group is doing well and this time Audi India is by their side too.
Mr Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India said, “We have witnessed strong growth of 126% in Q1 2023 compared to the same period last year. Our product line-up boasts sixteen models and we currently have the strongest-ever SUV portfolio contributing to over 60% of our total sales (in Q1, 2023). The newly launched Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportback are witnessing strong demand from across the country. We are on a growth path and are confident of a bullish performance through the year 2023.”
Audi India continues the expansion of its pre-owned car business which is helping in these sales numbers. Known as Audi Approved: plus in India. Currently operating with twenty-two Audi Approved: plus showrooms across all top cities in the country. The brand is rapidly expanding and will have twenty-five plus pre-owned car facilities by the end of 2023. These facilities are part of a large showroom where new Audi are also sold.
Audi India’s jump in sales comes from the renewed push in its previously weak after-sales area. The brand now has warranty coverage for five years with unlimited mileage. In addition, the Audi Club Reward program also helps a bit. The program offers exclusive access, segment-first privileges and experiences to all existing owners (including Audi Approved: plus owners) and future customers of Audi India. Something that has helped more than the expansion of the car lineup which has improved as well in the last two years.
Audi India’s lineup included Audi A4, Audi A6 And Q5 for quite some time. After that, the Audi A8 L, Audi Q3, Audi Q3 Sportback, Audi Q5 facelift, and Audi Q7 facelift came took the game further. The Audi Q8 was launched in 2019 and stayed extremely niche. The Audi S5 Sportback, Audi RS5 Sportback, and Audi RS Q8 helped the brand a bit with sales but kept the limited amount of enthusiasts happy. The bigger change was seen when the Audi e-tron 50, Audi etron 55, Audi e-tron Sportback 55, Audi e-tron GT and Audi RS e-tron GT were launched which helped the brand move ahead and caught the attention of a lot of customers. A time when the Mercedes India lineup was also overshadowed by Audi’s exemplary EVs that vowed the critics and customers.
However, the SUV’s contributed over 60% of sales in this quarter.
The Strongest ever sales in a quarter are courtesy of Audi Approved: plus which helped with 50%. As aforementioned, Audi’s fully electric car portfolio, including sports cars the Audi RS e-tron GT and Audi e-tron GT, helped with the strong customer demand. Just like Mercedes, JLR and BMW, Audi also saw Strong performance for top-end models such as the iconic Audi Q7, Audi Q8 and exquisite Audi A8 L.
