Bajaj Avenger 220 ABS makes it to both the variants and arrives dealership and we have the pricing for you
Recently, Bajaj Avenger 220 ABS has been spotted at company’s dealership, indicating the launch of the bike is imminent probably in January next year. The Spy shots revealed that both front and rear wheel of the bike have the encoders, suggesting that the variant is equipped with a single channel ABS system. The other models in the Bajaj’s stable like Pulsar RS 200 and Duke 125 also feature the same single channel ABS braking system.
Despite having a rear encoder which complements the working of the front encoder to achieve effective ABS performance, the Avenger 220’s ABS system is a single-channel system. Primarily rear encoder is used to prevent lifting of the rear wheel during an emergency braking though in the case of Avenger chances of having such a situation are rare, thanks to its long wheelbase characteristic.
Besides the new Braking System, the 2019 Avenger 220 ABS doesn’t seem to have any other feature addition. Bajaj will continue to offer avenger 220 in both Street and Cruise Avatar with the former offering sportier look while latter having tour-friendly characteristics. There is no change in the engine and transmission either. A 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, DTS-i engine makes motive force here with output pegging at 19.03PS and 17.5Nm of max power and max torque respectively. The gearbox is a 5-speed unit.
Avenger 180 will get a similar kind of ABS update in the near future. In terms of competition, Bajaj Avenger 220 ABS compete against the likes of Suzuki Intruder 150 and Gixxer SF, and UM cruisers family among others. Bajaj is expected to announce the prices of Avenger 220 ABS at its launch ceremony in January 2019.
