Bajaj Auto has updated the Platina 110 H-Gear commuter motorcycle to meet the BS6 emission norms in India. The BS6 Bajaj Platina H-Gear is priced at Rs. 59,802 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS is essentially the 5-speed gearbox-equipped version of the entry-level offering and now comes in a single variant. The company has discontinued the drum brake model on the bike. The Platina nameplate remains a strong-seller for Bajaj Auto and holds a healthy market share in semi-urban and rural areas. In a way, the Platina 110 H-Gear BS6 will fill in the void left by the now discontinued Bajaj Discover 110.
Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS6 continues to draw power from the 115 cc single-cylinder engine that’s been upgraded to meet the BS6 norms and comes with fuel-injection. The motor belts out the same 8.6PS at 7000rpm and 9.81Nm of peak torque at 5000rpm. Other cycle parts also remain the same including the telescopic forks up front and a gas charged dual shocks at the rear. The bike uses a 240mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. Combined braking system (CBS) is offered as standard on the Platina 110 H-Gear.
Like its other models, the Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS6 does not get cosmetic upgrades. To be fair, the revamped bike was only launched last year and still remains fresh in design and appeal. The bike has a kerb weight of 122kg and a ground clearance of 200mm makes it apt for rural roads. The bike also comes with tubeless tyres, and an elongated seat for a comfort ride. Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear BS6 takes on a number of motorcycles in the entry-level 110cc commuter segment. This includes the Hero Splendor, TVS Star City, Honda Dream Yuga and others.
