Bajaj wants to make sure it gains profitability to an whole new level. A likely factor that is set to be true as Bajaj now shifts focus almost completely towards niche market. Now, Bajaj wants to be a part of the extremely premium brands such as Tesla. It wants to be Tesla of the two-wheeler world and will make electric two and three wheelers. Bajaj could yet again go to companies who are already reached peak point in making electric two-wheeler technologies. For now it has revealed the fact that it is working on electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, even as the product plans with Triumph takes shape and comes before 2020, Bajaj is working on building another niche business. A segment where Bajaj is now concentrating with the Dominar series. Something it is working on to increase sales. With exports it plans to reach the earlier optimistic number of 10,000 units a month. Bajaj is now working a project Codenamed ‘Urbanite’.
The new Bajaj Urbanite will make youthful and highly aspirational products and aim to do a la Tesla in the electric two-wheeler space. Rajiv Bajaj said repeatedly that the company doesn’t strive the volume business. Electric vehicles including three-wheelers under the new franchise will go on sale before 2020 in the Indian market. As always, Bajaj will export these products too. Bajaj as always will focus on profitablility over volumes and aims to be the number one profitable two wheeler company nationwide.
