Just days after the Benelli SRK600 was revealed in leaked images, the Benelli 600 RR supersport motorcycle has now made its way online. The latest leaked images show a full-faired offering with the tail section identical to the 2020 TNT 600i. The bike sports a dual headlamp set-up with a massive fairing and dual-tone colour scheme with the ‘Q600’ nameplate. It is likely that the new Benelli 600 RR will share its underpinnings with the upcoming SRK600 and both bikes will share the same cycle parts and even the engine.
Details on the Benelli 600 supersport aren’t out yet. What we do gather though is a steel trellis frame underneath the fairing, USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking performance is from the twin front discs and a single disc at the rear. The alloy wheels and tyres have also been carried over from the Benelli SRK600.
It is likely that the middleweight Benelli models will carry the heavily-updated 600 cc in-line four-cylinder engine that’s originally sourced from the Yamaha YZF-R6. The motor in its current guise belts out 81.6PS and 51Nm of peak torque, while paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Expect slight improvement in the performance numbers and the motor meeting the new Euro5/BS6 emission regulations globally.
Other fancy equipment on the Benelli 600 RR will include a TFT screen, multi-level ABS and possibly traction control too. The bike could make its debut at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Italy later this year, if the show actually goes through given the pandemic. Nevertheless, we can expect the model to debut towards the end of the year will the bike rolling out in the markets by 2021.
There’s a good chance the 600 RR could make its way to India alongside the SRK600. Benelli’s India partner Adishwar Auto Ride (part of the Mahavir Group) has been aggressive about expanding the brand in India and the new models will help gain more traction for the company. The Benelli 600 RR will take on the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Honda CBR650R in the segment.
