Benelli Zafferano 250, if makes it to the Indian market would be a first of a kind performance scooter in the quarter litre segment
Italian two wheeler manufacturer Benelli is testing its upcoming scooter, the Zafferano 250 in Pune. The swanky Zafferano from Benelli is 250 cc fuel injected scooter which is powered by a 247.7 single cylinder liquid cooled engine, which churns out 20 bhp and 20.83 Nm of maximum torque and is mated to with a V-belt automatic transmission.
The Zaferano is a maxi scooter and is currently being sold in sout -east Asian markets. Benelli retails the Zafferano 250 in Indonesia with a price tag of Rp 45.550.000. Benelli is now testing the scooter on Indian roads. Benelli might be planning to launch the scooter in the Indian market as the company had stated earlier, that there are more launches scheduled this year.
The Zafferano looks stylish and beefy. Braking duties of the scooter are carried by a dual disc set-up at the front along with a single dual disc at the rear. The mopped gets 14-inch alloy wheels and knobby 120/70 tyre section at the front and a 140/60 section at the rear. The suspension duties are taken care by telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable monoschock art the rear. The Fuel tank capacity stands at 12 litres.
The upcoming Zafferano carries different looks and is a bit more sportier than the Scooters seen regularly on the streets. It is also bigger than the scooters currently sold in India and weighs around a brawny 155 kg. It measures 2,168 mm in overall length, 796 mm in width and 1,488 mm in height. The two wheeler sub-segment is growing very rapidly and taking that into consideration DSK has decided to give scooters a shot as well.
The Benelli Zafferano comes with grey faced speedometer and tachometer dials with a digital read-out which is placed out in the center of the instrument panel. Other features like under-seat storage, steeped seat and windshield are available. The Italian Moto maker has not yet revealed any plans about launching this swanky scooter here as far as now.
