Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the BS6 compliant versions of the Gixxer SF 250 and the Gixxer 250 quarter-litre motorcycles in its stable. The new 2020 Suzuki Gixxer 250 and SF 250 was seen with the “coming soon” tag on the company’s social media handles, while also revealing the official specifications of the updated motorcycles. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 line-up was introduced last year and have been popular sellers for the brand. The company also introduced the motorcycle in Japan recently, with the bikes exported from India to the brand’s home market. Today, the India launch has been done.
BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 & Gixxer SF 250 draw power from the same 249 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine with fuel-injection. The motor has been updated to meet the new emission norms and now develops 26.5 PS at 9,300rpm and 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7,300rpm. Compared to the BS4 compliant model, the bike now comes with lower torque by 0.4Nm even though it’s achieved 300rpm earlier than the older model. Power output stays the same. The motor continues to be paired with a 6-speed transmission, and also gets the Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) that was specifically developed for the Indian market to improve cooling efficiently and at a cost.
Visually, nothing changes on BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250 & Gixxer SF 250 as they use LED headlamp, full digital instrument console and LED taillight. The SF 250 differentiates itself with a full fairing that looks smart. Both bikes offer an aggressive yet comfortable riding position. The BS6 versions also continue to sport the same kerb weight at 156kg for the Gixxer 250 and 161kg for the Gixxer SF 250.
