TVS Motor Company has introduced the BS6 compliant version of the Sport commuter motorcycle in India. The new BS6 TVS Sport 110 is priced from Rs. 51,750 for the kick-start version trim, going up to Rs. 58,925 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the electric start trim. In contrast, the BS4 version of the Sport was priced at Rs. 48,117 for the kick-start variant, while the electric start variant was priced at Rs. 50,908 (ex-showroom). The BS6 TVS Sport not only gets styling upgrades and a mild price hike but a larger engine as well to meet the stringent emission regulations that have come I to effect from April 2020.
The biggest upgrade on the 2020 TVS Sport comes with the larger 109.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that now develops 8.3PS and 8.7Nm of peak torque. The BS4 version of the commuter motorcycle was powered by a 99.7 cc motor that churned out 7.3PS and 7.5 Nm of peak torque. TVS says the new Sport not only gets better power and torque figures, but is also 15 per cent more fuel efficient over the BS4 model.
Mechanically, nothing changes on the motorcycle that continues to use telescopic forks at the front, and five-step adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 130 mm drum brake at the front and a 110 mm drum brake setup at the rear. The bike does not get a front disc brake even as an option, but does come with Combi-braking that is mandatory.
There are no major changes on the styling front either, but the 2020 TVS Sport does get revised graphics and will be available in five colour options including volcano red, mercury grey, black with red, white with red and white with purple. The TVS Sport locks horns with a number of commuter motorcycles including the Hero Passion Pro, Honda Livo, among other offerings.
