Citroen India is planning to launch CNG vehicles very soon in India. Citroen India sources tell us that the brand has almost evaluated the CNG cars and it purely depends on market demand. The customers, if they demand CNG cars from Citroen, it won’t take much time for the brand to launch them. We have been told that it is a possibility to launch them in somewhere in 2025. The testing with dual and single cylinder format seems to be completed as well. The lack of loss of boot pushes foreign manufacturers to finally, not avoid this fuel option to customers. The CNG market is booming slowly and steadily as the market asks for cleaner and cheaper fuels to run their cars. Mobility is the requirement and affordable running costs are necessary too. This is in line with Citroens core philosophy of providing mobility to all types and segments of customers looking for a car.
The naturally aspirated and turbo engine both could get CNG as well. We are already ready to see the same come in the Nexon CNG. The 1.2 turbo petrol in Tata and Citroen could get CNG. The Basalt SUV comes claims to hit the Nexon and Curvv simultaneously with its middle ground pricing for all its variants. The engines on the Citroen cars seem to being doing well and they are already have our seal of approval in the way they behave. The launch of automatic has made things better too. A CNG automatic in Citroen could do wonders for the brand like its doing for Tata. The C3 and C3 Aircross will get CNG first very likely with Basalt SUV could follow in the end.
