The Fathers Of Jawa Will Bring Back Yezdi and BSA While Keeping The Tradition Of Every Brand Alive In New Vehicles Too
Classic Legends Pvt Limited (CLPL), which has just brought the Iconic Jawa brand to India, is now gearing to launch Yezdi and BSA motorcycles in the Indian market. The confirmation has come from the founder of CLPL, Mr. Anupam Thareja who nodded when asked about the possibility of the launch of Yezdi and BSA Motorcycles in India. Currently, the rights of Yezdi Motorcycles in India are owned by Mr. Boman Rustom Irani who is also a partner in the CLPL. The CLPL is in talks with Boman Irani to bring Yezdi brand under its bike portfolio.
Details are scarce at the moment but it is safe to assume that Yezdi will feature same engine and chassis as witnessed on just launched Jawa motorcycles. Yezdi is likely to get a 293cc, single-cylinder engine from Jawa which is good for putting out 27bhp and 28Nm of max power and max torque respectively. Design and styling changes are expected though more importantly except the Yezdi to retain its signature exhaust note for evoking nostalgia and memories of its golden past in India.
Along with the Yezdi, CLPL will also bring BSA motorcycles to India market but with a large capacity engine. CLPL is well aware of the niche status of the BSA brand and knows that the BSA specifically competes in 500cc and above capacity segments. Therefore, the BSA 300cc won’t make sense for the riding enthusiasts who see the BSA as a high-end riding machine. In other words, the 293cc and 334cc engines used in Jawa models won’t get make the cut for the BSA models. This means that BSA could end up using a high capacity sub-750cc motor for its models and if that happens, the recently launched Royal Enfield 650 twins will have a solid competition to take on.
