Mahindra & Mahindra recently revealed the new-generation Scorpio SUV and the model looks all-new from the ground up. There’s plenty to like about the new Scorpio that has truly received an overhaul. However, fans of the current generation Scorpio need not be disheartened. Along with revealing the new Scorpio-N, the automaker has announced that the current generation version will continue to be sold alongside. The current model will be rebadged as the Scorpio Classic and is set to get a lot of updates.
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic stays true to the first generation version with its evolutionary design language and a heady mix of features and performance. The ladder-on-frame SUV is fairly packed to the gills with features like LED DRLs, LED taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking camera, cruise control, climate control, as well as a 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is likely. It can also seat up to seven with comfort while the rugged, reliable and go-anywhere nature of the SUV that comes with the 4×4 option thatmakes it a preferred choice for several buyers in Tier II and III cities.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic could come with a lower tune of petrol and diesel engine options over the Scorpio-N and will also get manual and automatic transmission choices. The suspension is set to be tweaked too as old cars had quite a lot of body roll when driven enthusiastically.
It is likely that Mahindra will limit the Scorpio Classic to lower and mid variants while the new Scorpio-N will be offered with all the bells and whistles. It will also be interesting to see how the new model is priced given the super competitive pricing on the XUV700. Will the Scorpio Classic go back to a sub Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) starting price? All answers will be out by late August 2022.
